S/01 Studio MISE

Built by people who had to finish the edit.

MISE started in a grading suite, not a research lab. Half the team came out of post — conform, online, colour — where the cost of a face that changes between shots is measured in nights. The other half builds the models. The argument of the company is that those two rooms should not be separate.

S/02How we decide 4 PRINCIPLES

Continuity before generation

Anyone can make one good frame. We are only interested in the second one, and the two hundredth. Every feature is judged on whether it makes shots cut together.

The vocabulary of a crew

Shot size, camera move, lens, stock, grade. We use the words a production already uses, because a tool that invents its own vocabulary is a tool nobody can hand to a first AD.

Decide at the cheapest stage

Composition is decided on stills. Rhythm is decided on an assembly. Nothing expensive happens until the cheap decision has been made and approved.

Everything leaves

Shot lists, LUTs, stems, XML, media. A production that cannot take its work elsewhere is not a customer, it is a hostage.

What we will not pretend

This does not replace a crew, and we are not going to sell it as though it does. It replaces the part of the process where you discover a sequence does not work after you have paid to shoot it. Directors still direct, editors still cut, and the sound is still better when a supervising editor touches it.

It is also not a finishing tool. What comes out of MISE is an assembly with the right shots in the right order under the right grade. Take it into Resolve and finish it properly — the XML, the media and the LUT are all there so you can.

And we do not train on your material. Not as a setting you have to find, not as a tier you have to buy. Your script, your references and your frames are yours, and they leave with you.
